Meet Charlie's Dark Angel

by the Damzel

Meet Annie Illonzeh, ABC's newest selection for the remake of the 1976 mega-hit Charlie's Angels TV series.

Annie is of Negerian and American decent and is the first black angel the series has ever featured both on TV and in film. Annie will play Kate Prince who is a former Miami police officer. She'll team up with Minka Kelly (Eve),
Rachael Taylor (Abigail) and Ramón Rodríguez as Bosley. Robert Wagner was set to play Charlie but due to scheduling conflicts had to decline the role. No word yet on the recast.
Charlie's Angels is making history as it also cast Rodriguez as the first latino Bosley as well. The show has never had a non-white lead in its history running on TV or film. The show's fan base has always been diverse, maybe we'll see more diversity on film and TV as well.

The TV series will air on Thursdays at 8pm EST beginning in the fall and will premiere on Thursday, September 22, 2011, the 35th anniversary of the debut of the original Charlies Angels. According to creators of the remake, the characters are said to be real and emotionally grounded, but they still like to have fun, wear great clothes, solve crime, and kick some serious ass. Looks like this will be a whole new generation of Charlie's Angels.
