ATL Live on the Park...So FRESH!

Sitting in the audience, special guest Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed took part in the festive evening. We got a front row seat of Atlanta’s mayor standing to his feet when Ron Devoe (BBD & New Edition) did a one man version of Poison and pumped his fist in the air when Dougie Fresh led an all-hands-on-deck version of La Di Da Di. Video provided by On the Real Mag Also in the crowd of celeb-concert goers were Soul Train Holdings CEO Kenard Gibbs, Frank Ski, Rodney Jerkins, Dallas Austin, Sister 2 Sister publisher Jamie Foster Brown, Chaka Zulu, Catherine Brewton, Kawan Prather and many more! The show's original featured acts were R&B veteran Donell Jones, newcomer Rhonda Nicole and Universal Motown/Darkchild Records girl group Purple Reign. As usual, guests and fans alike were thrilled to be treated to impromptu performances by Brownstone's Nicci Gilbert and Ron Devoe. But the stage-stealer of the night was Doug E. Fresh, who did his own fly version of Cali Swagg District...

Frustrated? Don't Blame Rio

When you think of Rio de Janeiro, the beauty of the beach, the culture, and the food isn't the first thing on the minds of African American women. To them, this is the thing luring their black men and dangling unlimited opportunities for extra-marital affairs and rampant prostitution. Sisters see Rio as an impoverished country with uneducated women taken advantage of by black men who take their meager earnings and live like kings unbeknownst to their girlfriends and wives back home. Rumor has it that when a man becomes frustrated, he goes to Rio. Inspired and appalled by the 2006 Essence Magazine article “Blame It On Rio”, film maker Al Greeze wanted to know what really drove men to the Brazilian town of Rio de Janiero ...
