2016/17 Season

Go big or go home? Well, we're not going home.

Our 2016/17 Season is going to bring the house down, after all. Literally.
Our next season is big. And it's important. It's the last one on our current stages before we go on the biggest adventure the Alliance Theatre has ever undertaken—you know, where we do a to-the-foundation renovation of our entire theater space. But before we literally bring the house down, we're going to celebrate all year by taking you on a journey through some of the biggest works by some of the biggest names our old reliable stage has ever seen.
Casey Nicholaw is back to direct another world premiere musical (he directed Tuck Everlasting). Lookingglass Theatre is back with an acrobatic and fantastic version of Moby Dick (you might remember them from Lookingglass Alice in our 2009/10 season). Atlanta's Janece Shaffer is premiering a new play—with original music by Sugarland's Kristian Bush. And we cap it all off with a world premiere adaptation of Melissa Fay Greene's book The Temple Bombing, about a definitive moment in Atlanta's history.

And that's just the Alliance Stage Series.

On the Hertz Stage, we'll have a former Alliance/Kendeda Competition finalist, this year's Alliance/Kendeda winner, a hilarious and provocative Reiser Atlanta Artist's Lab winner, and Atlanta favorite Courtenay Collins brings some holiday cheer
And for families? Oh, just three world premieres, including a musical adaptation of Eric Carle's Pancakes, Pancakes! written by Kenneth Lin (Warrior Class, ...," said Saïd) and another world premiere by Janece Shaffer.

Go big or go home? We can't go home, so we've really only got the one option. We're just going to have to go big.
