Children book “I’m A Brilliant Little Black Boy!,” written by Joshua B. Drummond and Betty K. Bynum, inspires young black boys to be educated and successful.
“I would watch Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon. Every once in a while, there would be that one Black character within the friend group,” Drummond said in a press release according to the Huffington Post. “But for my age, there was never a whole group of just boys, like cool Black kids for the cartoons in particular.”
Drummond, as a co-writer, was motivated to be part of this despite the lack of Black cartoon characters on television. He also wants to bring some “light to the world” on the national conversation center around race and inequality. A lot of celebrities such as Samuel L Jackson, Vin Diesel and Denzel Washington endorse the book. Still people in today’s society need to understand the importance of black lives. Check out the video below in promoting the book, which is sold in stores starting at $19.95.
