Mickey Factz - For The Culture Lyrics and Video (Ft. Marsha Ambrosius)

for the culture
for the wine for the hustlers
yeah i knew for the love to die
die for living
is the life i am living
i am gonna keep on living

this is time
it was all a …and i still try to wake up
i used to read billboard magazine
now i am on page one
turn the good chance to a great one
as i had a good dance to the base doom
i still get love from where i came from
if you think hollywood take one
la sun new york night
different cities ain’t party is alright
short days long nights
we are showing love to the drinks pored right
i die for the love of it
please cut to the top not some of it
from the .. to the las this is out life style
so we’re doing it to the death

lights camera action
tonight is filled with magic
i am living the movie pick a scene
got my eyes open i am in a dream
cruising on the block you can feel the braze
windows down baby i am feeling clean
hard work got a brother here
so we do this like every day is another year
.. take your chance with me
and we can all rock
we can run for 3 that’s a short shut
i do this for the culture of top
we celebrate just for dyeing hard
.. this is my kind of job
i am looking at the finish line
like it’s kind of .. that ain’t done to a shining star

Bravo's 'Platinum Hit' Seeks To Turn Songwriters Into Reality TV Stars

NBC Universal's Bravo cable network has found its success in competition shows by making stars out of the magic-makers behind the curtain. Chefs whose names still appear in small print on menus, fashion designers without a personal label and hair stylists will soon be joined by yet another group of creatives working behind the scenes: songwriters.

"Platinum Hit," a 10-episode songwriting competition that premieres May 30, assembles 12 unknown songwriters competing to win a music publishing deal with Sony/ATV, BMI's The Writing Camp and a recording deal with Sony's Jive/RCA label. The competitors have backgrounds in multiple genres-country, pop, R&B, hip-hop-and "Platinum Hit" forces them to work in areas foreign to their experience.

"We relish the creative process," says Shari Levins, the show's senior VP of production at Bravo. "This felt very much [like] our signature shows-we're not afraid to show people being as different as they are, and the judges are great and credible." Singer/songwriter Jewel serves as host and a judge, and former "American Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi heads a rotating panel of established artists that includes Leona Lewis, Natasha Bedingfield, Donna Summer, Jermaine Dupri and Taio Cruz. RCA/Jive Label Group senior VP of A&R Keith Naftaly is a recurring judge.

In each episode, contestants are given a songwriting task. The judges select a few winners and then create teams to finish and then perform the song. In the premiere, the challenge is to write a chorus about Los Angeles in a half hour, from which four hooks are selected and teams of three complete the tune. "Collaborations are essential to the show," Jewel says. "It's a battle of ideas to a complete song. The awkward moments that [arise during the collaborative process] are essential to making it watchable."

Kara DioGuardi Sets Tour Dates, Talks 'Idol' vs. New 'Platinum Hit' Show

Jewel and DioGuardi say the real-life nature of the tasks were the reasons they were attracted to the show. Both describe the life of being a collaborator in very specific terms-meeting your new partner at 11 a.m. and finishing a song before lunch and a few more by quitting time-and say the show serves as a wake-up call for contestants.

"The songwriters we have use more inspiration than craft," says DioGuardi, a co-writer on Ashlee Simpson's "Pieces of Me" and Christina Aguilera's "Ain't No Other Man," who is currently working with a number of country artists.

In the premiere, contestants' eyes roll when one of them semi-melodically shouts "love it or hate it" with little sense of craft or emotion. But to DioGuardi, the catchphrase was much more of a winner than any of the other earnest melodies reminiscent of Billy Joel, Elton John or modern country.

"The concepts are the big thing-a genius title that expresses an idea or emotion that you would not ordinarily say," DioGuardi says, mentioning Katy Perry's "E.T." and Ke$ha's "Blow" as examples. She adds that one song that came out of the collaborations was strong enough to be considered for pop singer Charice's second full-length album. But it didn't make the cut.

"Platinum Hit" was shot last winter by True Entertainment and is one of six new shows airing on Bravo this summer. Glenda Hersh, Steven Weinstock, Evan Bogart, Tim Bogart, Faye Stapleton and Marvin V. Acuna are the program's executive producers.

Like all competition shows, "Platinum Hit" will dismiss contestants, but the premiere supplied by Bravo didn't include the final scene, and Jewel was hesitant to share the show's goodbye line. But she did hint that it might go something like this: "Songwriting is a hit or a miss. That was a miss."

Fake 'Tupac's Alive' Story Posted on PBS Website

PBS officials say hackers have cracked the network's website, posting a phony story claiming dead rapper Tupac Shakur was alive in New Zealand, and a group that claimed responsibility for the hacking complained about a recent "Frontline" investigative news program on WikiLeaks.

PBS confirmed Monday that the website had been hacked. The phony story had been taken down as of Monday morning. It had been posted on the site of the "PBS NewsHour" program, which is produced by WETA-TV in Arlington, Va.

Anne Bentley, PBS' vice president of corporate communications, said in an email that erroneous information posted on the website has been corrected. The hackers also posted login information for two internal PBS sites: one that media use to access the PBS press room and an internal communications website for stations, she said. She said all affected parties were being notified.

David Fanning, executive producer of "Frontline," said he learned of the hacking early Monday, nearly a week after the program aired its "WikiSecrets" documentary about the leak of U.S. diplomatic cables to the WikiLeaks website. The documentary, produced by WGBH-TV in Boston, generated criticism and debate on the program's website in recent days from those sympathetic to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and from those who thought the program was fair, Fanning said.

"Frontline" producers hear impassioned responses all the time, Fanning said. Having a group attack the PBS website over a news program was unusual but "probably not unexpected," he said.

"From our point of view, we just see it as a disappointing and irresponsible act, especially since we have been very open to publishing criticism of the film ... and the film included other points of view," Fanning said. "This kind of action is irresponsible and chilling."

A tweet from the "NewsHour" Twitter account said: "If you missed it: our site has been accessed by hackers. Thanks for staying with us."

A group calling itself LulzSec and "The Lulz Boat" on Twitter claimed responsibility and posted links to other hacks, including a video apparently taunting the network. Taunting messages were also posted on the group's Twitter page targeting the PBS program "Frontline." One message said the group recently saw the "WikiSecrets" show and was "less than impressed."

The timing of the hacking was provocative: Sunday marked the one-year anniversary of the detention of Army Pfc. Bradley Manning, who's accused of passing thousands of classified documents to WikiLeaks.

PBS ombudsman Michael Getler wrote about the "WikiSecrets" documentary in his weekly column Thursday, saying it had generated only a handful of complaints, though he had expected more mail from viewers.

"This may be a good thing for Frontline if it suggests that most viewers found the program to be in keeping with Frontline's reputation for fair yet tough reporting," Getler wrote.

Getler raised some questions about the reporting in the program but said he found the questioning by interviewer Martin Smith to be "tough but proper."

Do The Sisters Still Have Voices?

Leanne (Lelee) Lyons, Tamara (Taj) Johnson and Cheryl (Coko) Gamble

Can you call it a break when the group has been gone for thirteen years? Either way, the female trio known and loved as SWV (Sisters With Voices) is back and are apparently here to save good music. (From what?)

Reportedly, the group has inked a deal with Mass Appeal Entertainment and E1 to begin recording their much anticipated and talked about fourth studio album. No word yet on the name or who they'll be collaborating with.

With all the talk and rumors about why they broke up and what they've been through since having never really answered, SWV's very own documentary is in the works, highlighting their success, failures, break-up, and inspiration.

Looks like Coco shed those famous nails. Some things do change.

Damian Marley is known for his ecletic collaborative choices and he's at it again with a jambalaya-like new project. On his latest project he'll be collabing witht he likes of Mick Jagger and creating a group called Super Heavy. Marley has also recruited the sounds of sultry soultress Joss Stone, Eurthymics member Dave Stewart and producer A.R. Rahman.

Per Rolling Stone, they've been in the studio recording for at least 18 months with an anticipated debut date of September.

“It’s different from anything else I’ve ever been involved in,” says Jagger. “The music is very wide-ranging — from reggae to ballads to Indian songs in Urdu.”

They are actually further along than expected. Super Heavy completed their first single and filmed the accompanying visuals and is looking around for a major label deal.

A gritty new series by “Grey’s Anatomy” creator Shonda Rhimes will star Kerry Washington. The star will play the role of real life crisis manager and public relations specialist Judy Smith, who once advised Monica Lewinsky during the Clinton scandal.

This new show will definitely be filled with lot of drama and “Scandal” as it is appropriately called. Don’t believe us? Then check out the trailer below. Home girl brings it and then some.

According to official show synopsis, the series will “revolve around the life and work of a professional crisis manager and her dysfunctional staff.’ Washington leads the “gladiators in suits” as Olivia Pope, a former media relations consultant to the President. Although Pope has opened up her own firm, she can’t seem to cut ties with her past “professionally and personally.”

The official premiere date has not yet been determined.

HAIL THE QUEEN: Queen Latifah Launches Clothing Line, Accessories for HSN

Queen Latifah has deigned her own clothing line for the Home Shopping Network which will feature clothes and accessories for women between the sizes of 2 and 24.

The rapper-turned-actress has revealed plans for “The Queen Collection for the Home Shopping Network (HSN),” which will be available beginning in August.

“I’m so excited about it. This is something I have wanted to do for a very long time,” she told “I’ve been offered a lot of deals for clothing lines and actually started one that didn’t quite get off the ground but this is like a full circle moment for me.

“This is a young 14-year old, 17-year old and 22-year old Dana trying to go shopping and actually finding the things she wants to wear or going on HSN and ordering the clothes she likes because they’re there and they are in her size. This has been a bit of a journey and it’s a really exciting venture.”

Latifah says she’s already chosen the bag line as her favorite from the collection.

“I have a bag fetish. I’ll have on sweatpants and a $3000 purse,” she said. “I don’t deny myself, bags are the one thing I’ll allow myself to splurge on. I think the bag line is going to be really good. It’s versatile so it’s not going to look like the same bag from one collection to the next. There’s something for everyone.

“I definitely want to be able to rock my bag. I figured, if I can rock it, why shouldn’t other people be able to?”
