In 2012, Chicago received the unfortunate title of being the nation's murder capital, the majority involving the escalating homicides involving youth. For rapper LIL BIBBY, this is real life, a number of his friends have been killed in the last few years. The 19-year-old rap phenom is bred from the same streets as Kanye West and Common, though has witnessed much more in less than two decades. As LIL BIBBY embarks on his journey to rap superstardom, his rhymes are documenting every step of the way.

"I think I grew up a little faster than most kids," LIL BIBBY recalls. Being surrounded by crime on Chicago's East Side, Bibby had an atypical childhood. "It's probably the worst neighborhood in Chicago," the young rapper explains. He attended the first half of high school at Chicago's famed King College Prep, but feeling like an "outcast" amongst the middle class, predominantly White and Asian students. He transferred to a local public school, and by his junior year, he realized he was slick with the pen. "I first started writing rhymes with my friends, and we'd be playing instrumentals and stuff," Bibby recalls. "Then we'd break out our phones and record our voices over the instrumentals." They'd send the songs to their friends, who in turn would make them ringtones. Their popularity went widespread. "We decided to take it up a notch," he continues. "And went to a studio and recorded three songs."

One of the songs was "Kill Sh*t," where LIL BIBBY - flanked by crewmember Lil Herb - erupts on his threatening verse with a haunting crescendo. The track was turned into a lo-fi video and uploaded to YouTube (currently clocking in at over 4.2 million views). It reached the attention of Drake, who added a clip to his Instagram of him rapping along to the song. "We started getting a lot of attention after that," says Bibby.

In November of last year, LIL BIBBY dropped his solo critically acclaimed Free Crack mixtape, a 17-track adventure into the streets of Chiraq, hosted by MMG's DJ Scream. The mixtape showcased the burgeoning talent, described by XXL Magazine as having "a voice beyond his years." The project was as honest as it was aggressive, and Bibby was propelled to the forefront of rappers on the rise. Even peers like Mac Miller and Earl Sweatshirt reached out to show love, along with industry veterans like Juicy J. "They say I've got an old soul," Bibby states. "I'm proud of that."

It should come as no surprise that 2014 will be LIL BIBBY's year. While his next steps include remixing the Free Crack torch single "Water" (with a video as well), along with "Whole Crew," an EP is also in the works. Like most music newly signature to Bibby's style, it'll be filled with brutal honesty. "That's the only way I know how to make music," he admits. "I can't just talk about money, drugs or killing. I like to talk about what's really going on, or what I'm going through that day." He's learning some valuable lessons along the way. "Making music now, I sit back and think of all the shit I've been through that I didn't really notice before," he adds. "When you're so deep in it, you don't really pay attention. It's like an everyday thing. You just think it's normal, but when I'm traveling to places now and experiencing different environments and seeing how people move I've come to the conclusion that Chicago is really messed up."

His upcoming project will arrive with production from A-list beatsmiths (Boi-1da, Hit-Boy, and DJ Mustard have already thrown their beats into the ring), and Bibby has some wish-list collaborations in mind, including Drake, Pusha T, Juicy J, and the legendary Scarface. What's next? The world.

In the current rap landscape, few make it their mission to be a raconteur of sorts for their surroundings. While localized music scenes cater to the same area code, LIL BIBBY aims to make his message universal. "I want to paint the real picture of Chicago," he expresses. "A lot of people go off what they see on TV or hear in rap, and I don't think some rappers really tell that story fluently. I want to be the one to tell it like it is."

He pauses. "I guess I've got a lot of work to do."

RHOA Reunion Smackdown Pits Porsha vs Kenya?

Who knew there was drama brewing there? It was clear with all the dirrespectfu shade Kenya was throwing Phaedra's way. Even Nene was done with her.

At the reunion show in New York this week, Kenya thought picking on the weakest link, Porsha would boost her appeal. Apparently she found that soft spot to set off a sleeping giant and the new Ms. Williams delivered what twitter is calling a CAN'T MISS reunion.

Rumors have Porsha dragging the Kenya Moore (or less) across the stage by her hair after teasing that Porsha's ex-husband was gay. I guess after being publicly called stupid and dumb by Wendy Williams, Porsha had already had it up to ....well there! So in twirls Kenya at the wrong/right time. Its up to you to decide how you feel about it.

Now, ordinarily I don't gossip and I'm going on record to say all of this is ALLEGED. However, I will say that I too can't wait to see this! In the meantime, go to twitter and search #RHOAReunion and enjoy!

By the way, none of the cast-mates are talking....yet. However, Nene did shoot Porsha a supportive tweet.

Stay tuned!

OWN's popular comedy series from Tyler Perry, "For Better or Worse," will kick-off a new season with two back-to-back half-hour episodes on Wednesday, April 9 at 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. ET/PT.
At the end of last season, Angela (NAACP Image Award nominated actress Tasha Smith) is convinced that her husband, Marcus (Michael Jai White), is having an affair; Richard (Kent Faulcon) and Keisha's (Kiki Haynes) relationship is on the rocks and Leslie (Crystle Stewart) comes face-to-face with her stalker and is trapped without anyone knowing her whereabouts.  The new season opens with Leslie's ex-boyfriend, Joseph (Jason Olive), frantically searching for her and fearing her life may be in danger.
"For Better or Worse," about the ups and downs of dating and marriage, centers on Angela Williams, the owner of a successful beauty salon, and her husband of 13 years, Marcus.  Marcus is a former professional football player who is partnered with Richard Ellington and Joseph Jetson on a sports program called "C-Sports Now."  Marcus's business relationship with Richard and Joseph is complicated, however, by the fact that Richard is married to Keisha, Marcus's ex-girlfriend and the mother of his teenage daughter.  In addition, Joseph's ex-girlfriend, successful real-estate agent Leslie, is Angela's best friend, which sometimes makes it difficult for everyone to keep their business and private lives from mingling.  "For Better or Worse" is written, directed and executive produced by Tyler Perry.

Omar Epps' Man Skirt Inspires Twitter Beef with Lord Jamar (who?) vs Marlon Wayons

Barbara Walters, Omar Epps & Sherri Shepherd

I'm not much for keeping up with twitter beef, but here is one that's irrelevant, but comical at best. Lord Jamar (who?) versus Marlon Wayans (neither pictured due to ignorance) over Omar Epps' style choice!

While appearing on The View this past week to promote his new show ResurrectionOmar Epps appeared to be wearing a leather skirt over black jeans. Now, I'm confused about the look he was going for and if it's a fashion statement, he should not have said it. This is my blog and that's just how I feel.

Now, Sherri Shepherd called his look 'amazing' but that's just a nice way to say 'Uhn uhn boo! Not a good look for TV...or anywhere! Pass that look on to your woman! Let her rock it!"

Here is the hot mess.......

Kandi Springs on Jet Cover

Quadruple threat, Kandi Burruss, works bombshell swag on the cover of JET magazine as she opens up about her career and her very public relationship with her mother, "Mama Joyce," and fianc√©, Todd Tucker.

"When I speak about anything on camera I want to accomplish it before we finish taping," Burruss tells JET regarding her drive and ambition.  "I am a 'do what I say' person.  I want people to know I'm not a [phony].  I hate when people on reality shows mention how they want to do this and that, but you never hear of it again," she added.

With a successful adult toy line, Bedroom Kandi, her Atlanta-based studio, The Kandi Factory, and her musical, A Mother's Love, set for DVD release in April, Burruss certainly has proven that she has a keen sense for business.  She admits her relationship with Tucker has helped her sharpen her skills.

"I love that Todd is affectionate and relationship-oriented," said Burruss.  "But he's also a leader and a planner, and because of his production background he makes me a better businesswoman."

Although many know that Burruss' mother, Joyce Jones, is firmly against the union of her daughter with Tucker, she concedes exclusively to JET that "If they are married and it lasts, I will be the first to apologize."

"When my mother was younger it was all about getting a man to be a provider," said Burruss addressing her mother's qualms.  "She leans toward a man who is financially more well-off than the dude who is just a good guy."  She added, "I've dated guys who are more successful than me, and my mom is like, no matter what he does wrong, you have to work it out."

Andre 3000 Channels Jimi Hendrix

The wait is over.

The Jimi Hendrix biopic All Is By My Side is finally here. Outkast member Andre 3000 has made the jump from music to film, landing the role of the late great music legend.

All Is By My Side will debut at the SXSW Film Festival from March 7-14. Because we know not everyone could make it out there this year, we’re bringing you a little preview of the film up above.

This Christmas, the classic tale of the red-headed orphan Annie hits theatres with ummm....a twist. Annie is black and so is her new daddy Warbucks.

You know the story, Mr. Money Bags is a wealthy politician who decides being seen with a Harlem foster kid will further his mayoral campaign. Sick of cranky Miss Hannigan, Annie is more than happy to help and offers to help him get all the way to the White House, quipping, "I bet if I moved in with you, you'd become president."

So it begins—her taste of the good life and the softening of Daddy Warbucks' jaded heart.

Annie promises heartwarming ride that will keep you laughing and boppin' along to the music, even when the requisite shady figures emerge to claim the lucrative reward being offered in the quest to find Annie's real parents.

In the remixed version of the classic musical, Cameron Diaz stars as the jaded, domineeering, yet comically snarky Miss Hannigan who runs the orphanage where Annie lives. Modern-day Annie (10-year-old Quvenzhané Wallis) won't be staying there much longer after literally running into billionaire Benjamin Stacks, played by Jamie Foxx.

And while the movie is not coming out tomorrow, you can bet your bottom dollar you will be laughing and crying (in a good way!) when it hits theaters on Christmas day.
