Denzel Washington Detoxing Checks Into Detox Facility

Pauletta and Denzel Washington
So this happened.....

Back in July, Denzel and his wife Pauletta took some time off to 'turn up'. At 59, he apparently still has a lot of 'get-on-up' about him. The two took a month-long vacation on a private yacht that was apparently fueled with indulgences inclusive of massive amounts of alcohol and an all you can eat buffet!

No stranger to detoxing, this time Denzel reportedly checked into a luxe-filled detox facility for two weeks after the well deserved hiatus.

According to TMZ.com, "This was more than just alcohol...it was an overall cleanse for toxins." That could be code for sun exposure, bad food, alcohol, sleep deprivation and the list can go on.

Sources also claim, the A-lister also enlisted the assistance of a nutritionist, personal chef and a trainer to get him back in lady-loving shape. We need that.

Apparently, Denzel often goes cold turkey on the extras when he's embarking on a big project. So let's hope his next project is a banger.

Horizon Gets It Right With 'Right On!"

Do you remember going back to college for Homecoming? You get to see old friends, the campus, dorms and places where so many lessons were learned and memories made.

Right On introduces us to Bella. Bella is a former activist who traded in her daishiki for a power suit, her afro into a tamed roller set and her black power fist for motherhood to a Harvard bound teenager with mental health issues. She takes us to homecoming where the class of '73 comes back nearly 20 years later and people have definitely changed for the better and worse. We get to see how time stands still in hurt feelings and hangups. We hear how music is the tie that binds.

Right On is a tale of Bella and old friends who lived through a time when the black panther movement was powerful and friendship was thick as blood. Almost.

Right On is a must see while you still can. Now playing through August 31st. Click here form more information.

My Virginal Jazz Experience with Will Downing and Chris Botti

Images by: On3 by Allen Christopher
Will Downing and Chris Botti

I recently had the opportunity to do something I'd never done. I went to my first jazz concert to see what all the fuss was about.

I grew up a blues girl. My parents regularly had the blues playing loud and proud in our household. Every now and again, my dad would throw a bit of jazz in the mix but he was a 'souled out'  old school rhythm and blues.

I was online broadening my horizons in the realm of jazz music when I came across an opportunity to see jazz heavyweight Will Downing and trumpeter Chris Botti. The duo was scheduled to perform at Atlanta's Chastain Amphitheater.

I'd heard of Will Downing and got the chance to sample his style of music before the concert. However, I was still a bit of a novice where Chris Botti was concerned. Not anymore.

The evening began with the rain threatening the event but ended in snuggling underneath the stars to sounds made for love. The theme for the night was LOVE. It really wasn't but that's the way it felt.  Before the sun went down, Will Downing took to the stage and had the crowd singing along and eating out of the palm of his hands with songs that spanned his musical career.

With his wide vocal range he went from soulful rhythmic whispers to a deep baritone. Mr. Will Downing took the crowd on a journey with songs like You Sure Love To Ball (Marvin Gaye remix), A Million Ways and Send For Me. By the time he hummed that last note, the crowd looked emotionally spent by the end of his performance.

But the night wasn't over.

After a brief intermission, Chris Botti took to the stage and rendered the swelling crowd dead silent with the sounds of his trumpet. Seriously. First long note sent a loud hush over the crowd that I'd never experienced. It was like watching a snake charmer but with a trumpet.

For the rest of the night, we were wooed with hi's and low's by the sound of Chris Botti and his special invited guests. Violinist Caroline Campbell had the audience awestruck as she strummed and picked her way through duets with Chris and her solo performance. He later introduced us to Sy Smith, a sultry and vibrant vocalist. The range displayed as she sang and rivaled runs with his trumpet was electric and exhausting. Who has this much energy?

The highlight of the night was the duet between Chris Botti and Sy Smith as they took to the crowd. I was giddy and in awe. By the end of the night, I wanted a do-over.

MTV Grace Beyonce With Highest Award Given

Who run the world...of music? Beyonce' Giselle Knowles-Carter!

Call her the 'Teflon Don'. She can't be touched. She's the cream that rises to the top despite all the bad press about her marriage to hip hop mogul Jaz Z.

To add to the insanity, Bey will also perform at the VMA's....don't hold your breath, it's going to happen.

Need more? Take this....Beyonce is leading the pack of VMA nominations this year with an eight nominations in total. That's right. 8.

The jury is still out on the food. If you stop by Newark, check out Diamondz N Da Ruff and let us know what you think.

NEW RELEASE: 72 Percent

Moguldom Studios has released 72%, an intriguing and provocative new film about the growing cultural crisis of single mothers within the African-American community. The documentary was released on July 29, 2014 and is available for purchase on DVD, as well as digital download through online retailers including iTunes, GooglePlay, Amazon.com and MoguldomStudios.com

Moguldom Studios is leading the way in producing non-theatrical films through digital networks by keeping at the pulse of trending topics that are relevant in today's ever-evolving world.

"Baby mamas," single mothers, deadbeat dads and absentee fathers: these polarizing terms are commonplace in today's African-American community. Nearly 72% of black children are born out of wedlock, and single mothers are raising most. Why is it that black men continue to neglect their parental responsibilities?

Through the perspective of various experts, 72% looks into the reasoning behind the rise of single mothers in the African-American community. The film investigates the effects that colonization and slavery have had on the black family unit, which was once solid and intact.

Today's media is inundated with stories of black single mothers, child support cases, and so-called "welfare queens." The African-American community at large has clapped back at criticism from Don Lemon, Rush Limbaugh, Fox News reporter Ben Carson, and even Black leaders like Bill Cosby and President Barack Obama. 72% provides a raw and analytical view of the media's portrayal of this phenomenon in regards to African-American households.

Single black mothers chime in to tell their stories from their vantage point. Cameras follow one single mother of three as she changes hats from full-time employee to full-time caretaker in order to provide and care for her children on her own. 72% leaves no stone left unturned as it seeks to expose this issue from all perspectives and compel viewers to reconstruct the African-American family from the ground up.

"The purpose of our films is to spark debate. Here at Moguldom, we accept the challenge of initiating spirited and provocative discussion. 72% is another example of presenting an issue so culturally relevant and important, that examining it was the natural thing for us to do," says Brett Dismuke,President of Moguldom Entertainment
