New Music: Azad Right

Here's a little West-Side flavor - something new!
Newbie artist Azad Right is rolling out his first video, Showtime, from his upcoming project  For The Hopeful that's dropping later this Spring.
"This video was shot primarily with a camera rig (that weighed a ridiculous amount) and basically shows a day in the life in Los Angeles -- all the way from the beach in Santa Monica to the depths of Hollywood.  We felt like this is a great introduction record to the project because my ultimate goal is to give the people a dose of the soulful, substance heavy Hip-Hop that my homies and I grew up on." Kevin Hart Pays Measly Divorce Settlement

Torrei and Kevin Hart
If you are Torrei Hart, you should learn to budget your money! The ex-wife just received a stack of nickles (figuratively) in the lump sum divorce settlement from comedian Kevin Hart in the amount of $175,000 and an Escalade. That's it!

It's likely Kevin Hart initiated a prenuptial agreement when they married in 2003. At current, Kevin is reportedly worth $9 million dollars.

When the two divorced seven years later, they cited irreconcilable differences.

Of course, Torrei will receive $19,785 per month in child support for thier two children, some jewelry and personal effects so I think she'll be fine.

Kevin is currently starring in the BET hit show Real Husbands of Hollywood and recently hosted Saturday Night Live.

Do you think Kevin is being a 'Mitch' for only giving Torrei $175K and a few parting gifts?

Pink Breaks Up Fight During Her Concert and Dries a Little Girls' Tears

Roger Kisby/Getty ImagesI already freakin’ love P!NK and…here’s one MORE reason why…
Many years ago, P!nk came on my show.  Back then, she SEEMED to be a tough talking, little brut of a woman who partied hard and took no sh*t.  Her entourage sent us a RIDER — very unusual for a radio INTERVIEW — and so, the Street Team was forced to fill COOLERS with Diet Coke, veggies, water, sandwiches…the list was ENDLESS.  P!nk didn’t touch ONE thing.
Today, however, P!nk has morphed into a beautiful wife (she fought HARD to save her marriage), mother, ATHLETE (have you seen her stage acrobatics) and all around NICE chick!
During a recent concert, two women began FIGHTING in the crowd. P!nk stopped MID-SONG to ask what was happening because she could see a little girl CRYING!  First, she asks, “Y’all are FIGHTING around a little girl?!”
P!nk then gets off of her stool, picks up some items fans had thrown on stage and, to the child says, “Honey, do you want this little frog? Would this frog and Rice Krispie Treat make you feel better?  Rice Krispie Treats fix everything.”
P!nk then addressed the fighting hoochies and told them to cut it out because they are GROWN women!  She started her song over and the crowd went WiLD!
We are tickled P!nk with her kick ass kindness!

Eva Mendes Eyes Fasion Opportunties

Eva Mendes
Eva Mendes will be doing the red-carpet circuit again with her new film, "The Place Beyond the Pines," co-starringRyan Gosling, coming out later this month. But while she lands more often than not in the fashion "do" column, Mendes says she knows she's made a few mistakes along the way, including one look she calls "Princess Jasmine gone wrong."
Still, she has style credibility — and is making the most of it. She's working on her own clothing line for New York & Company and is hoping to have it in stores for the fall. She's also been tapped to represent Vogue eyewear.
Mendes, 38, talked about spreading her wings in an interview with The Associated Press:
AP: Do you feel any pressure to look "done up" whenever you leave the house?
Mendes: No, that's a pressure I would never put on myself because I wouldn't want other women to feel that pressure. We all have our good days and our bad days. We all have our days when we feel great and want to look great, and then we have our days where we just want to be in our sweats or our jeans or our sweats equivalent and throw our hair up in a bun or a cap. For me, I like to throw my hair up in a scarf because it's an easy way to not deal with bad hair and it adds a little bit of elegance. So, usually when you see my hair up in some kind of scarf it's really not going for a look, it's going for function because I didn't have time to wash my hair or style it.
AP: Do you ever look back at any of your red carpet moments and think, "What was I thinking?"
Mendes: I really am the first one to laugh at myself and point out what a horrible fashion choice I made or point out an unflattering photo. About six years ago I went to the 'Ghostrider' premiere in New York City and it was cold and snowing — I don't know why I'm sharing that, I think I'm trying to justify — and I had my dress on but I had to finish my hair and makeup in the back of an SUV. It was a beautiful dress, but the way I put everything together, it was a Princess Jasmine gone wrong. The strapless, purple dress with necklaces and a hair in a really high braid. It's not a good look.
AP: Are you someone who follows trends?
Mendes: No. In fact, the worst thing a sales person can tell me when I'm in a shop is, 'Oh, that's been a hot seller.' ... Most of what I wear is vintage ... I like little boutiques. I feel stressed in department stores. Or, oh my God, I can't go to Target. I'm just overwhelmed. It's like the Super Bowl of stores. I like thrift shops more than vintage stores because at vintage stores just calling it 'vintage' kind of ups the price (laughs).
AP: You're the face of an eyewear campaign. Do you wear glasses?
Mendes: I started to need reading glasses like two years ago, but the funny thing is I used to want glasses so bad when I was little that I actually used to stare into the sun to damage my eyesight. My mom would catch me and be like, 'What are you doing?' I was obsessed with looking smart. I also went through a stage in junior high where I would wear non-prescription reading glasses and then I got called out one day, so I stopped that because I felt like a phony. So, as of two years ago, I just started needing them. I love them. (Wearing glasses) adds an instant quirk and elegance.
AP: What's the clothing line you're working on?
Mendes: It's with New York & Company. I'm working on it right now for the fall line and working with vintage-inspired prints and cuts but not making it retro in any way. I come from a family where the women are more voluptuous so I like to cater to that.
AP: Is this something you always wanted to do?
Mendes: Not really. It crept up on me slowly. Then I realized this is where my passion lies. I think one of the great things about being an actress nowadays is we can wear so many hats. If you're creative in one area it usually seeps into another, like my home. I feel like my home is a set in a way — a lived-in set. I love to production design my own home.
AP: Does the look of your home change based on what's going on in your life?
Mendes: All the time. It's so fun. I love listening to music, rearranging my furniture, playing with materials. Flower arrangements. I make flower arrangements for every room in the house. That's really peaceful for me.

Terrence Howard on Playing Oprah’s Side Piece in ‘The Butler’

Terrence Howard and Oprah Winfrey in "The Butler"

In October, Oprah Winfrey tweeted the above photo of herself and Terrence Howard from the set of their upcoming film “The Butler.”
“And THAT’s a Wrap! Terrence Howard and me in our goodbye ‘love scene’,” Winfrey wrote as a caption, providing no further details.

Howard, however, is now spilling the beans on how he ended up making out with O in the Lee Daniels-directed drama.

As previously reported, the film is based on the true story of White House butler Eugene Allen, who served eight Presidents until his retirement in 1986.

“I was supposed to play the butler, himself, initially,” Howard told us. “But when Oprah and I were paired against each other the age difference became palpable. So I championed Forest Whitaker to come and take that role.”

Whitaker indeed took over the fictionalized role of White House butler Cecil Gaines opposite Winfrey as his wife Gloria. Daniels ended up casting Howard in a smaller part.

“Lee said, ‘I really want you in this film, and the only character I have left is this little small character named Howard that’s having an affair with Oprah, but I don’t want to offend you offering [a smaller role] to you,’” Howard recalled of his conversation with Daniels.

Below, the actor reveals what Daniels said about the role that made him sign on.

“The Butler” is set to open later this year. A specific date has yet to be announced. Check out the all-star cast below.

Michael Vick Taking Dog Training Classes?

(l to r) Angel, Michael Vick, Unknown PetSmart dog trainer
So let's just be clear. This is my blog and I often assert my own opinion to news topics that I feel compelled to. That being said, allowing Michael Vick to own another animal to me is fodder for something to go wrong....again.

There is a story on Yahoo! about Michael taking dog-training classes that just doesn't sit or stay with me. I believe in redemption and second chances and Michael got his when he got out and was allowed to earn a living again with the NFL. Owning a dog however is another thing altogether. It's just not a good idea. We all remember Michael was prisoned on charges related to illegal dog fighting.

Philly sports blog Crossing Broad caught up with Michael Vick at a New Jersey PetSmart retail store taking training classes with his Belgian Malinois (seen pictured) dog named Angel who seems to need a bit more practice. Angel isn't quite sitting during this photo.
In a statement last fall, Michael addressed the enthused about his choice to own another pet.

I understand the strong emotions by some people about our family's decision to care for a pet. As a father, it is important to make sure my children develop a healthy relationship with animals.
I want to ensure that my children establish a loving bond and treat all of God's creatures with kindness and respect. Our pet is well cared for and loved as a member of our family.
This is an opportunity to break the cycle. To that end, I will continue to honor my commitment to animal welfare and be an instrument of positive change.

What's your take?

Bobcat Films Presents In The Meantime

Bobcat Films is releasing its next new made for TV film called In the Meantime, starring

(bottom) Terri J. Vaughn and Darrin Henson

In the Meantime was written by Nzinga Kadalie Kemp, who was the grand-prize winner of the second GMC Faith and Family Screenplay Competition presented at the American Black Film Festival (ABFF) in 2012.

Jazmin “Jazz” Welles (Kali Hawk) and her long-time artist fiance “Blac” (Musiq Soulchild) are on their way to wedded bliss. Or, are they? With their relationship in a slump before marriage, the vow “’til death do you part” begins to weigh heavily on Blac’s mind. He convinces Jazz to take six months off to discover themselves and decide if what they have is really true love. After Jazz loses her job, her sister (Terri J. Vaughn) recruits her to teach for an adult literary program at a local community center where she meets Kwame Davis (Darrin Dewitt Henson), a litigator focused on career advancement, who reluctantly volunteers his Saturdays to teach adults to read in an effort to please his boss. As Jazz and Kwame reach into the community and find new and creative ways to engage their students, guiding them toward individual success, they find themselves drawn into an unlikely friendship that surprisingly blossoms. With her six months relationship break set to expire, and her walk down the aisle getting closer, Jazz finds her life changing in ways unimagined.

“Jazz thinks she knows true love,” said Roger Bobb. “However when she expands her definition of what love truly is, through helping others and rekindling her love of community, family, and her faith, she discovers the strength and the foundation needed to change her life. I feel blessed to be a part of the creative team and to be once again working with GMC to bring this wonderful story to life.”

In the Meantime will make its world television premiere on GMC TV this July.
